Declaration

Greetings brothers and sisters of the Church of God in Canada,

It is my great joy to greet you in the glorious name of the Lord Jesus Christ. 2006 marks the centennial anniversary of the Azusa street revival and The Barney Creek revival where a few men and women cried out to Almighty God for the outpouring of His Spirit and the answer continues to ripple today. 1906 was a Kairos time. The Greek word for opportunity as it appears in scripture is kairos. Scholars tell us it means “favourable opportunity”. Its derivatives imply “the right moment; that which only last for a while”.  Kairos means a God-given opportunity is being offered to mankind at a specific moment in time. However, the word also implies there is a risk—a risk of faith. In other words, as time moves on, the opportunity can be missed.

The call of the Church of God is for world evangelization. It is a call to discipleship and prayer. It is a call of commitment. It is a call for the Church of God to be a channel for Pentecostal revival well into the new millennium. Today the Church is being beckoned back to those early days at Barney Creek. Church of God congregations across Canada desire the fire of the Holy Spirit more than ever now. Reports of revivals where hundreds are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit are frequent occurrences around the world.  But what about Canada?

In 2006 on the first Friday of every month Canada in Prayer (canadainprayer.com) will partner with The Church of God in Canada to begin a prayer with fasting pilgrimage which by Almighty God’s grace will position us to answer the “Cry” of our desperate nation. In 1896 Almighty God heard and whispered at Barney Creek.  In 1906 The Azusa Revival communicated this message to the world. By faith we will take hold of yet another Kairos moment and trust Him for even greater things.

Church be encouraged in 2006 there is an appointed time and season for the fulfillment of God's promises. His Word cannot return to Him void. It is like defying the basic law of gravity . . . It cannot be done. It's a principle of the Kingdom. God says it, and that settles it! Let us now go forward and fulfill our destiny to be a healing to the nations beginning in Canada.

In Christ,
Rev Brian Warren
