Scriptural Prayers for the Corporate Church PDF Print E-mail

A. Prayers for the release of the gifts, fruit and wisdom of the Holy Spirit to the corporate Body

1. Eph. 1:17-10: The spirit of wisdom and revelation is expressed through release of revelation and power gifts, the spirit of conviction on the preaching of the Word and a release of wisdom for the corporate direction of the Church and her ministries.

2. Co1. 1:9-11; 4:12; James 1:5: These prayers are to make known God's will and Word to us. This also occurs by the release of the gifts, conviction and wisdom.

3. Eph. 3:16-19: This prayer asks for strength in the inner man of the saints. It will be fulfilled by the release of God's presence within. This includes the release of the gifts of the Spirit, the power of conviction and the release of wisdom.

4. 2 Thes. 2:17; 3:5; Heb. 13:9: These verses speak of strengthening the heart. The release of God's power, conviction and wisdom will do this.

5. Phil. 1:9-11; 1 Thes. 3:12; 2 Thes. 3:5: These prayers ask that our hearts grow in love by the impartation of the Spirit. We, too, will grow in love as the Spirit of conviction reveals carnality and unbrokenness in us. We are able to express love to others by the release of the gifts of the Spirit. Also, God will grant wisdom to reveal how to walk in love more specifically and effectively.

6. 1 Cor. 1:8; 2 Cor. 13:9; 1 Thes. 3:10; Heb. 13:20-21: These are prayers for the Church to be established, confirmed and made complete. She will be made complete by the release of gifts, by the release of conviction that leads to the fruit of the Holy Spirit and by receiving wisdom in our personal and corporate lives.

7. John 17:20-23; Romans 15:5--6: These are prayers for unity in the Church, especially for her leadership. This will also occur by the release of gifts, conviction and wisdom in our midst.

8. Rom. 15:13; 2 Thes. 2:16-17; 3:16: These are prayers to release peace, joy and hope (See also Acts 9:31; Romans 14:17).

9. John 17:11-12, 15; Rom. 16:20; 2 Thes. 3:3; James 4:7: These are prayers to overcome and resist Satan, the evil one.

10. Acts 4:29--31; Eph. 6:19: These are prayers to release boldness in the saints of God. Boldness is a specific manifestation of the Holy Spirit that is released through prayer.

11. John 17:11-17; 2 Cor. 13:7-9; Phil. 1:9; 1 Thes. 3:10-13; 5:23: These are prayers to bring the Church into purity, love and sanctification. The release of the Spirit of conviction and revelation will produce this in the lives of the saints. The release of power and gifts will greatly aid in this (see also Acts 5:1-11; 1 Corinthians 5:1-5; 2 Corinthians 10:4-6).

12. Matt. 9:37-38; Luke 10:2: These are prayers to the Father to release anointed laborers. Only those anointed with gifts, conviction and wisdom will fully answer this prayer.

13. 2 Thes. 3:1-2: The increase of the Word will come only by the release of gifts, conviction and wisdom (see also Acts 6:7; 12:24; 13:48; 19:20).

14. Acts 14:1-28; Col. 4:3-4: Doors are opened for the Gospel by miracles.

15. 2 Thess. 1:11-12: Prayer is given for the Body to be mature by experiencing grace and being found worthy to fulfill its sovereign calling.

16. Eph. 3:18-19; 2 Thes. 3:5: Revelation of God's love comes by the Spirit of revelation and conviction. God's love is experienced by the power of the Holy Spirit .
