History of Canada In Prayer
The Vancouver Agreement
Crossroads Declaration

Canada In Prayer began in 1998 as a network of individual intercessors and prayer groups. The goal then, as it is today, is to provide Canadians here and overseas with a forum focused on strategic prayer for renewal and revival - first in our churches and then in our nation. The strategy for this unique alliance was set forth in the 'Vancouver Agreement'.

The agreement was biblically anchored on 2 Chronicles 7: 14.
It was a call to the body of Christ to be aligned in prayer and fasting for our nation on the first Friday of every month.  Individuals, prayer groups and churches were to be informed of provincial and national prayer requests by an email network and a web page.  This simple framework allowed CIP to successfully pioneer the concept of an electronic-based prayer community in Canada.

In May 2000, CIP intercessors experienced a major breakthrough when over 8,000 gathered in the nation’s capital at Lansdowne Park for the first 'Canadian Prayer Assembly'.  That Assembly was the most denominationally and ethnically diverse in recent Canadian church history. The Church in Canada was entering a new millennium with hope and renewed vision of seeing the Church of Jesus Christ united across ethnic and denominational lines and moving towards the harvest.

2000 And Beyond

Since then God has expanded the vision to mobilize His kneeling army for the purposes of building the Body of Christ through local church-based prayer, reconciliation and prayer driven evangelism.   Each First Friday thousands of intercessors continue to agree in prayer for the spiritual transformation of our churches, our cities, our government and our nation.

CIP's mission is to deepen the prayer movement in Canada and position it firmly in the local church. A church without an effective prayer ministry is simply operating a religious treadmill.
