Crossroad Declaration

"The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some consider slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."   (2 Peter 3:9)

On November 8th, 2002, at The Crossroads Centre in Burlington, Ontario, a group of national ministries in partnership with Canada in Prayer, met together to seek how they could cooperate in prayer and evangelism for Canada. The principle of 'prayer-driven evangelism' was established, describing the vital partnership through which prayer for the harvest precedes successful evangelism.

We, the undersigned, have come together in The Crossroads Centre on this day to seek how we can 'stand in the gap', before God, for Canada. We are agreed that our Nation is in great need of urgent and effective prayer-driven evangelism for every aspect of Society. We are challenged personally to continue preparing our own hearts for revival and together to issue a joint call to the whole Church of Canada to fulfill the Great Commission (Mark 16). We desire to seek God in fervent and united prayer and evangelism according to the Word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit as outlined below:

THE LORD
We, as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, agree to live in submission to His dominion from sea to sea challenging others to recognize the unique claims of Christ. With confidence we will pray to Him and obey His sovereign rule in our lives

IS NOT SLOW
We will continue in persistent prayer, in networking and developing evangelism opportunities for the purpose of receiving the harvest in Canada. With hope, we will trust in Almighty God’s Word and believe in His timing for revival and spiritual awakening across the land.

HIS PROMISE
As many have humbled themselves and prayed, (2 Chr. 7:14) repenting before the Lord, we believe in God’s promise to hear, forgive and heal our Land. We will continue to repent of sin in our lives and be prompt to obey the Holy Spirit. In lives of holiness we will believe and pray for the fulfillment of His promises for Canada and believe that Canada will be saved.

CONSIDER SLOWNESS
In obedience to the Great Commission we will not be distracted from proclaiming the Gospel of salvation in cities, towns and communities across Canada.

PATIENT TOWARD YOU
We will, as disciples of Jesus Christ, encourage and strengthen one another, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, working together to reach our whole nation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ before the Lord returns.

THAT NONE SHOULD PERISH
We agree to pray specifically and strategically for the harvest in Canada and encourage others to do so. We will pray for our relatives, neighbours and friends to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We will also pray the Lord of the Harvest to raise up labourers for the plentiful harvest in Canada.

FOR ALL TO COME TO REPENTANCE
On the foundation of fervent prayer, we will boldly preach the Gospel in word and deed to our generation that many will repent and turn to Christ. We will seek to saturate the nation of Canada with prayer and evangelism and disciple making communities for every aspect of society.
